Lagoa is the best. I traveled all around the island, from the northern tip of Jurerê, the eastern point of São Antônio, the west side, and the southern beaches. And, Lagoa da Conceição stands out as the best place to stay. It’s central, it’s affordable and it’s chill.
Where to Eat in Lagoa
No Sleep Café
This specialty coffee spot has somehow become a hub for foreigners and travelers. If you want to meet other English speakers or just vibe with fellow nomads, this is the place to be.
Café Cultura
Right across from No Sleep Café, this large chain café is packed with people working.. It’s often shamed for its coffee, but it’s a popular work spot for digital nomads nonetheless.
Café Decor
If you’re into turmeric kombucha and bohemian forest vibes, this cozy café won’t disappoint. A little hidden gem perfect for relaxing, and family oriented.
Messkla
A tucked-away café with solid food options and a chill atmosphere. A nice spot if you want something quieter.

Rocambole Café
I’m obsessed with pão de queijo, and Rocambole serves the best I’ve found. Try the one with cheese, tomato, and basil.
Cafe Sunrise I had one of the best, thickest hot chocolates ever.
Paraense Culinária Everyone should try açaí at least once in its pure form, no sugar, no toppings — and this is one of the places that serves it properly. I ordered the crab and duck coxinhas, plus shrimp vatapá. No frills here — just good service and good food.
- A coxinha is a popular Brazilian snack — a teardrop-shaped croquette made from shredded meat (traditionally chicken, but also duck, crab, or other fillings), wrapped in soft dough, then breaded and fried. It’s everywhere in Brazil for a reason.
- Vatapá is a creamy, savory stew from northern and northeastern Brazil, with strong roots in Afro-Brazilian cuisine. It’s made with shrimp, bread, coconut milk, palm oil (dendê), peanuts, and spices, and usually served with rice.

Yama Sushi
Surprisingly great quality sushi, and for a fair price. They offer a buffet that I would trust.

Espaço
A vegan buffet that changes its menu daily, and it’s delicious. Great option for plant-based eaters looking for variety. We went here 3x.
Cucumba
A huge upscale treehouse, bohemian restaurant – known for their healthy dishes and signature tapioca crepe. There’s a little kids play area, and it has several rooms.

Armazém Cravo e Canela
A health food store that also serves fresh açaí bowls. The owner is super nice and welcoming. Support her.
What to Do in Lagoa
Run Across the Bridge
You can’t visit Lagoa without crossing its iconic bridge. It’s a small but essential part of the experience, if you’re okay with an uphill exercise, keep going until you hit Mole beach. That’s a solid 50 minute walk because of the big hill.
Hike Along the Lagoa Coast
There’s a beautiful 4-mile hike along the coast that ends with plenty of lunch options towards the end. The trail includes a short scramble (less than 10 minutes), so it’s perfect for non-experiences hikers, who want a bit of adventure. I ended up at the last restaurant on the route Restaurante Cabral Parador 19 — it’s a bit pricier and more upscale than the others, but the view and vibe made it worth the wait. Take the boat back for just 20 reis (about $4 USD — cash or debit card only.

Of course, there’s so much more to explore beyond Lagoa — check out my other article on the best beaches and hikes around Floripa for even more ideas.
